Viewing Discussions

Anyone with Internet access can read discussions on these boards. To read discussions, navigate to the discussion of interest by single clicking on the links from the Forum Selection options above. Messages are displayed on the main page in a hierarchical format, newest original posts first. Responses to each message are indented to show the pattern of the discussion - replies to replies, or replies to original messages can be determined by the indentation pattern. Each original posted message, along with all related replies, is called a thread.

Contributing to Discussions (Post New or Reply Messages)

To start a new message thread, click on the "POST NEW MESSAGE" button from the Subject List page. After filling in a user name and subject line - make sure to use Subject text that will clearly communicate the nature of your message - type your message into the Message Box and click on the "Submit Post" button. Given the nature of legal matters, specifically the difference in laws from state-to-state, you should always include your state of residence within the subject line. And be patient - it may take a while before a relevant, informed response is made - check back frequently to see new responses. If you would like to view your post after submission, press "Refresh" or hold down the "shift" key and click your browser's refresh or reload button to see it.

To post a message to an existing discussion, open the specific message you wish to reply to and click on the "Reply" button. Enter a user name and include your email if you want to be available for direct responses. The old message appears in the message box, with each line preceded by the ">" symbol. You can leave this text in as reference and type your message before or after the old text, or delete the old message first. If you are a lawyer, please identify yourself as such, but you may not include contact information within the message box unless you are a registered sponsor - to become one, contact us. After entering your message into the message box, click on "Submit Post" to submit your reply and you will be taken back to the Forum Subject list. Your posted reply should now be included in the thread. If you cannot see it, click on your browser "refresh" button.
